Getting Around
Created in 1995 and home to more than 1,500 businesses, the Westchase District draws its diversity and popularity from a central, west Houston location at the axis of Memorial, the Energy Corridor, Chinatown and the International District. With two key toll roads – Westpark and Sam Houston – joining in its boundaries, as well as major thoroughfares including Westpark and Wilcrest drives plus Richmond Avenue and Westheimer Road running through the neighborhood, the area is a bustling commercial center featuring a myriad of shopping, dining, hotel and residential options inside – and in close proximity to – its borders.
While CityWestPlace tenants and guests enjoy the convenience of four, popular onsite dining venues, an eclectic array of eateries spanning ethnicities and budgets are just a short drive of the campus. Nearby choices span from local/regional mini chains like Becks Prime, Salata, Pollo Bravo, Thai Cottage, Churrascos, Brookstreet Bar-B-Que, Dimassi’s and Torchy’s Tacos to independent gems such as Bistro Le Cep, Saldivia’s South American Grill, Kasra Persian Grill, Marini’s Empanada House, Lotus Seafood and Ramen Jin.
For those with more than an hour to spare for lunch, a few exits to the north off the Sam Houston Tollway, adjoining CITYCENTRE and Town & Country Village provide a density of casual and upscale selections – also ideal for happy hours and business dinners – including Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Radio Milano, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, The Capital Grille, Texas de Brazil, Brio Tuscan Grille, RA Sushi, Yard House and Seasons 52. To the south, Chinatown favorites like Banana Leaf, Tiger Den and Fu Fu Café abound with karaoke bars in Dun Huang Plaza and numerous centers lining Bellaire Blvd.
In addition to restaurants, pedestrian-oriented CITYCENTRE and Town & Country Village showcase premium shopping, a dine-in movie theater, boutique bowling and community playhouse in an activated environment with regular programming and entertainment. Just to the east of that cluster, Memorial City encompasses a 1.7-million-square-foot mall boasting indoor ice skating.
Fitness buffs have unrivaled amenities on campus, but can take advantage of nearly five miles of off-road trails with multiple exercise equipment stations through Westchase. Additionally, close by Terry Hershey Park offers hiking, biking and kayaking on a six-mile system running alongside Buffalo Bayou.
Given its location, residential options are also in abundance with apartments and homes available at every conceivable price point and schools varying by neighborhood. Gated Royal Oaks, an affluent country club community within Westchase, and pastoral Rivercrest, bordering the district with estate homes on multi-acre lots, both count local VIPs and professional athletes among owners, while charming Briargrove Park has long been a sought after address for young, upwardly mobile families in the area.
